Instruction
Even though you attend high school online and on your own schedule, teachers are still very important to your success. And since Insight Instructors don't spend as much time managing a traditional high school classroom, they have more time for one-on-one interaction with you.
What can you expect from your teachers at Insight School of Oregon?
- Experience: All instructors are certified in Oregon and those who teach core courses are "highly-qualified" as defined under No Child Left Behind. Instructors receive ongoing professional development so they stay updated on the latest online instruction techniques and tools.
- Availability: Instructors respond to student needs through email, phone, and interactive whiteboard. They are required to keep structured weekly 'office hours', at which time students and parents can interact with them at scheduled times. Students may also schedule face-to-face meetings with teachers at Insight-provided facilities.
- Flexibility: Insight students rely on their instructors at different levels-you choose how often you connect with your teachers based on your individual preferences and needs.
- Answers: All of our Instructors are subject-matter experts. They answer day-to-day questions, work through conceptual problems with students, and assess students' performance through assignments, exams and quizzes. As a school policy, instructors are required to answer student questions within 24 hours and grade subjective tests within 72 hours, but often respond much more quickly.
- Planning and Mentorship: Our iMentors work closely with students and their families in a mentor-type role on the formation, progression and evaluation of a student learning plan. iMentors also serve as the family's contact point for evaluating overall progress and advocating for student needs.
- Understanding: Insight teachers build relationships with each and every student. They're here to support you through every phase of your high school years at Insight.
